Looks like December: http://www.baratza.com/accessories-tools/metal-portaholder/.  I want one for my Vario!

Looks available now but I get an error when trying to add to basket. Not in stock..

Listed at $20.  very nice!

Already ordered the shutoff hopper.

Those 2 upgrades are going to look very nice and add some good function to the vario.

I got my metal portaholder.  Very nice and solid!  Holds my portafilter no problem.  Took a bit of wiggling to get it into my Vario.

Forte AP has flat 54 mm ceramic burrs, is belt driven, and commercial rated.

Preciso has 40 mm conical steel burrs, is gear driven, and is a home grinder.

i have been using my AP for 6 weeks now and i absolutely love it. initially, i thought i would not be using the weight feature. i thought i will only be using the portafilter holder. in reality though, i really like using the weight feature of the grinder. 9g for a single basket and 16g for a double basket. more than anything, i think it's how well the anti static grinds bin work that makes it such a pleasure to use with a portafilter. dosing the portafilter from the anti static grinds bin, hardly any grinds are left behind. the grinder is very neat and tidy as well compared to most other grinders i see people using on Youtube.

i did find that it is very important to have the grinder running while adjusting. if not running when adjusting, especially when going finer, the grinder takes quite a while to settle down to the new grind setting. after adjusting while the motor is off, the grinds will remain too coarse. it is only after grinding a lot of coffee will the grinder all of a sudden be too fine. initially i ended up chasing the grinder thinking the grinds are too coarse and all of a sudden too fine. i now adjust with the motor running every time. i typically waste only about 2 to 3 grams every time i adjust. i don't bother grinding anymore than that after adjustment to flush the old grind because i think the Forte has very little grinds retention to begin with. just having the grinder running while adjusting seems to be enough. i found that each micro click in the espresso range equals to about 2 seconds in extraction. it's actually a little less than 2 but for simplicity's sake, i say 2 seconds.
