Or so it seems.

I was told it was virtually the same as a Mazzer SJ, just made locally here in Taiwan.

Well, so far, I may need to understand it a bit more, but it is giving me headaches.

I have the doserless one (908N) and there is a good amount of grind left in the chute right after the burrs every time.  It seems to contribute in a good amount of clumping as well.  I try to clean the chute, and the initial flow is nice, but get stuck and clumps after a couple of seconds.

From reading on the net, seems that the original MSJ does that as well.

I was thinking of sticking a piece of teflon to the bottom of the chute to let the grind flow better.  Good idea?

Of course, the 908N is quite cheaper than the real thing... paid less than $300 for a new unit.
Also, the funnel is lined with a plastic piece so there is no amount of static cling to the funnel (hence my idea of a piece of teflon in the chute).

Does the original Mazzer funnel come with a plastic inner piece?  couldn't find that out on the net.

Anyway, I hope it's more "operator-error" than a bad unit.

Will keep fiddling....

There is no way they are the same...U.S.dollars for the one in Taiwan is 272....a real one is 1100.00. No offense but no they arent the same. There is a good chance my little
Preciso is head and shoulders above it unfortunately.

Oh, I was sure they are not the same...  but one can dream, no?  :)

I have a friend who had the doser version, and coupled with a LaCimbali M27 Bistro, I made coffee that was quite nice.  So I was hoping I could get away with it...  Time will tell if it is possible at all.

Yep, that price is right.

I'll give it a couple of weeks before I decide to sell it at a big discount to get it off my shelf.

Too bad because that thing is built like a tank... very heavy and seems like a good item.

A lot of doserless grinders have some sort of restrictor over the exit hole; mine has a hinged flap. With a full hopper in a busy cafe saves time and wasted coffee. Maybe you should get the doser version since there's a local manufacturer with good pricing.  If you did go Mazzer a Robur, Kony, or Major might be worth the trouble.

From what I can see, the coffee gets stuck before exiting into the chute or funnel by static.  There is no flap or restrictor of any kind.

When I clean it, the first couple of grams of coffee are flying out very nicely and evenly.  They it starts to accumulate, and what comes out is all clumped badly.

Well, I have been on a hunt for tips or even a replacement.

I tried the Droplet technique, but that didn't improve things on my grinder.

Searching around for other grinders.... not much.
There are plenty of Baratza Virtuozo, and a bunch of blade grinders, even one Baratza Vario at over $600 used.

Rocky is available at $500.
The only other model is a Bezzera BB005 TM (doserless) at $500 as well.  I could only find one review for that model at home-barista.com... that's it!  The rest is mostly shops selling the grinder, but no more reviews.

A search here brings up some threads with vague mentions of a Bezzera grinder.

Well you could take it by the factory in Taichung and have Mr. Yang check it out.
