Just wondering if someone could offer any personal experiences using Baratza's new Forte (AP for espresso).

I have one and posted a "Commentary" regarding it and the Vario over at HB.
It is, IMO just about what everyone requested in a "steroid Vario!"
And more.

In a nutshell, perfect cone-like dispersal of grinds into your port filter.
Brighter aspects of the varietal enhanced, with the same lower end goodness (SJ-like) as the Vario.
Faster. Awesome electronics, easy programming.
Grind by either weight OR time.

Significant upgrade when used as a pour-over grinder. My Kalita brews were sensational, using the Ethiopian Gedeo Worka, roasted city, Behmor.
It is SOLID, quiet, and absolutely worth the extra $$ over the Vario W. That says a lot, as I think the Vario W is a terrific home grinder, which I also see in a LOT of cafes, mainly for pour-over I had great success with it and my former Cremina.

BTW, the hopper with stopper is compatible with both Vario and preciso grinders.

Can't wait for Baratza to start selling these new portaholders!  IIRC, they're backwards compatible with the Vario and look much more pro/commercial too.

So I've had mine now for most of a week and I have to say it's everything I wanted that the Vario didn't have. I did notice the new bean hopper retains an absurd amount of beans, so I have to fish them through with a rod between roasts. The grind was consistent, clumpless, and quiet. The ONLY gripe I had was not being able to at first figure out how to time doses dispensed by weight. I had to call Barazta and they explained that you have to switch back to TIME immediately after your weight grind is done and it will show you the time for the dose you just dispensed.

The portaholder is very nice, extremely solid. I ultimately went back to the bin, because I have become so used to gently shaking the (few) clumps out and then sifting the grinds into the PF for better distribution. Force of habit, but I was pulling better shots so I left it be.

The Forte is, so far, everything I wanted and I'm really happy with it to this point. Now if only I could get someone locally to buy my Vario-W from me...

Just to add to the group, I have been using mine for about a month...can't find a thing wrong.  I had come down to the Mazzer Mini E and the Forte.  I like the size, quite and not messy...
