Espresso: delonghi ec155 Grinder: la cimbali max junior hybrid

I'm new to espresso making at home, but I've done a lot of special modifications to my ec155 delonghi.
Got a nice cimbali jr max hybrid, and I'd like to know if anyone has a cure for the "pop-corning" the beans seem to do when there is a small amount in the hopper.
Is there any mods anyone has done out there that remedy this?

Joe, welcome to the CG Forums! In the CMH, I'd recommend always having a 1/3 full hopper. The grinder was meant to operate in that manner, unlike a Mazzer SJ, where a tamper can be placed on top of a 20gram single dose.

Hey Joe, I've got the Cimbali Jr and I usually grind for one double shot at a time. I get a little pop corning and what I do is shut the chute door and place the beans inside of the hopper, then I turn on the grinder and open the door as soon as all of the beans drop down on to the burrs I'll shut the door again and after about 25 sec. it's done. Maybe I should of gotten a doserless grinder since I only grind enough for two double shots everyday and then grind only enough for one double at a time. But I got a great deal from Chris Coffee on the Cimbali, I paid for it what a new Madcap M4 cost at the time. I've had mine going on two yrs and haven't had any problems. I grind two to three pounds a month and clean it out every other month.
