Interesting... I posted in the Youtube comments asking if this new Encore is better than the 585 Virtuoso (which you can get refurbished for $150 vs. a new Encore for $130). The response was:

Surprisingly, this {Encore}. The older Virtuoso was generally at around 2 - 4 for espresso so didn't have quite as much room to move. This performed much better than we expected.

Has anyone used the Encore? I just use a French Press so am interested in how consistent the grind is from this machine.

hi
Will this work for an E61 machine like an Isomac Millenium or Quickmill Vetrano?
How about for a simpler Gaggia Espresso machine?
I am looking for a grinder to leave in a secondary location.
I don't want to shell out the money for a Rocky. I have a Mazzer Mini

Hi..
Ive been looking into the Baratza Encoe..and this is an interesting Demo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMR_ffmtHKQ

after watching this'video.. my question is this:

I use a French Press 70%  and a Hario pour over the other 30%

I don't have an Espresso machine...
is it really worth it to me, to buy an Encore or more $$$Baratza
instead of using a decent blade grinder "ouch"  it hurts to say that!
" thing is' I really want to buy one' but this VID..makes me wonder"

Sure could use any feedback from more experienced  folks here.

Thanks...please be brutally honest!!

this is interesting, and would perhaps allow the encore to be used for espresso, with finer grinding.  I did see the "crew review" of the encore.

There is no such thing as a "decent blade grinder". There are some decent low end burr grinders for drip and presspot. Baratza certainly makes several of them in my experience.

As a quick note, I drink mainly drip and press pot.  My new Encore is quite nice...only HUGE complaint is the amount of static it seems to generate.  Maybe it is new and in time it will fix itself.

Other than that, it does grind slow, but I think that is good...grind consistency seems to be on target for this price machine.

Just dialing in settings...great machine so far.

You'll get more static in the winter months, as chaff seems to just cling to everything. It's night and day on my Virtuoso when looking back to the summer months. It also breaks in a bit as you use the machine, so give it some time!
