Posted Sat Oct 20, 2012, 10:44am Subject: Baratza Preciso - switching between regular coffee and Decaf
We regularly need to switch between caffeinated coffee and decaf. What's the best way to do this? Ideally we would have two grinders but that option is too expensive. I was wondering if there's any accessory that might help with this situation. Due to the way the bean hopper fits into the Preciso, I'm not sure there is any way to accomplish this easily. We currently grind 100g of decaf and store it in a container for later use. It's bad, I know.

What i do is to store my beans in an (or two of them for your purpose) air tight container. I scoop the required amount into the hopper and then grind away. So the hopper is empty when the grinder is not in use. I find keeping the hopper full just speeds up the staling process.
