Ever use a Pharos? I owned #21 for a week & it cured me of wanting a manual espresso grinder until the HG-One came along. Actual cost is $840 for the 71mm version & $850 for the 83mm, not $1000.

With fast-turning electric grinders, uniform rotational speed helps maintain grind uniformity. With my 83mm Robur, increasing the rpms from 400 to 500 makes the grind noticeably coarser. To compensate, one must set the adjustment collar about 1.5 fine lines finer.
It is possible that the HG One would be similarly sensitive to grind speed variation. But maybe not, because no one has reported that effect with the Pharos.

I too have a Pharos and love it and it is real portable. Got the Voodoodaddy Mod and it is a breeze to operate, just a bit slower than my Versalab M3 and a lot slower than my Kony.
I weigh the beans going into the Pharos as well as going into the Versalab. With the MODs on the Pharos grounds retention is NOT an issue, there is more grounds retention in the Versalab and that is not much either. The Kony hold about 30g of grounds in the chute and chamber.
