Posted Wed Sep 26, 2012, 7:22pm Subject: Great Service from Baratza, and Satisfaction with Preciso
My Baratza Preciso had intermittent problem of grinding not fine enough. At first, I didn't suspect the grinder, as all the settings were always the same. Anyways, I finally realized that the grinder was grinding coarse time to time for some reason. I don't know what the issue was, and frankly I'm not that concerned...
Anyways, 1st-line Equipment got me in touch with Pierce at Baratza. First, he sent me a diagnose instruction. It was very well written- concise and very visual. (Whoever writes Baratza's instructions, knows how to write clear instructions.) Then after a couple more emails, he offered to send me a replacement unit with prepaid return ticket for my "troubled" unit.
The unit arrived a few days later, and it works very nicely. The tiny tab on the burr chipped off, which I didn't really mind, but Pierce sent me a spare part when I mentioned it.
I was very pleased with the customer service. Sometimes, you end up with a defective product, but when I'm confident that the manufacturer will fix the problem in a heartbeat, I won't hesitate to buy from them. Baratza, and Pierce fixed an issue in a heartbeat, and I am one happy customer.
About the Preciso itself, I don't think I need to go into details on how nice it works. In short:
It grinds very nicely (a must for a good grinder!)
It's easy to clean and maintain
It has very little amount of coffee ground left inside the machine after grinding.
