Howdy folks,
Before I get into new hardware I'm thinking I'd like to try some sort of lubricant to get the screws on my burr carriers un-stuck. The bottom burr carrier is brass, the upper I'm guessing is chromed aluminum or steel, the screws probably stainless. I'm looking at products such as these:
...or whatever similar stuff they've got at ye olde Depot or the like. Does anyone know if chemicals such as these are advisable for use in this sort of application?

Just wondering if something like Dow 111 would work. it is perhaps the best lubricant on the market for use with espresso machines and grinders. Most times, however, you really do need a penetrating oil, something that can bust through grime, and perhaps rust. I wouldn't know which you listed above is truly food safe, but it would seem like you'd use so little not could removed from the screws with a simple citric solution, and wiped away from the grinder, or perhaps a capful of "Grindz" run through the grinder.

The main ingredient of the CRC Pentrating oil is mineral oil. It is listed in the link. Food grade quality mineral oil has been used for ages as a laxative. Never had any experience on that myself, but I suggest that if you do use the oil on your screws to go sparingly with it ...
