Good morning. Sorry, I might have put this int he wrong forum; apologies.
I am a mid-level coffee consumer !!! Quality is important but not at any price. I drink espresso at the coffee shops but do not make it at home.
Please advise best grinder for individual drip filter or French Press for under $300 and preferably closer to $200. It is sometimes possible to buy the Rancilio Rocky Doserless on eBay for under $300 but rarely. I am thinking about the Baratza Virtuoso 586 which is around $230.

Rocky or for that matter any espresso grinder is not a great choice for other than espresso grinding of coffee. Espresso requires it's own set of specifics and they are different than regular coffee grinding.
If all you want is to grind for other methods, the Virtuoso Click Here (www.baratza.com) is all you need. It will do a great job for everything other than espresso and new it is only $249 direct from B.

Not to sound like a broken record, but yes, Baratza. Virtuoso is a fine choice ;)

LOL. Did you know kids these days can't tell time on an analog clock and many don't know what a hand crank window is? I even heard they stopped teaching cursive! **EEK**

I got a Breville grinder for $199, from a real store that offers a liberal return policy, and I'm keeping it. A few nice features in addition to grinding the beans for espresso or drip:
A removable cradle for holding the basket; ability to adjust the size of the shot in memory; a container that can be filled from the grinder, or used to store beans; and a hopper that removes easily to change out the beans between shots. The LED screen showing grind adjustment, number of shots, and amount per shot, is useful, though I'd prefer analog controls.
It also doesn't make any mess, or waste beans.
This machine has lead to a substantial increase in my consumption and enjoyment of espresso. Time will tell if the machine holds up.
