Right now baratza has the "virtuoso with preciso burr" refurbs available. initially I thought this was the same as just a "Preciso" and having read the review on here of the Preciso I went to hit the buy button but stopped as I believe I am mistaken. Assuming I am how important are the differences and do Preciso refurbs ever go up for sale? For my first foray into real grinders (by that I mean anything better than the krupp blade grinder I have lying around) I was trying to stay under $175 but if the Preciso refurb, which I'm guessing is around 50-75 more, is really worth it I'll probably fork out the cash unless there's an all together better option out there.
Thanks
on a side note if I'm just trying to make a double (or two double) shots worth of espresso a day, how annoying would a hand grinder be?

Espresso: Gaggia Classic PID Grinder: Preciso

For espresso you will want the extra steps to keep dialed in. The Preciso refurb is available fairly often on Thursday am when they post. $239 plus shipping has been the price. I am very happy with my refurb.
The Virtuoso will grind fine enough, even too fine and choke machines, but the step are too large for fine dialing.

yeah what he said.
the virtuoso with preciso burr is just that. a virtuoso with the burrs from the preciso. that means it'll have the standard 40 steps which are far too wide for optimal espresso.
if you want a very good drip grinder, that would fit the bill.
for espresso, definitely wait for the Preciso. The micro adjustments are essential to properly dialing in the shots.

ok thank you. Definitely want to wait for the preciso if I'm going that route then.
I'm also now intrigued by the OE Pharos. Historically I've been willing to sacrifice ease for improved quality but even for me at a point it's not worth it. As I have zero experience grinding by hand input on this would be appreciated =)
