I've been doing espresso for years now using my Macap doser with an indexed adjustment. I just ordered some Gesha from Sweet Maria's for drip coffee. For those of you that use your Macap for both espresso and drip, how many steps do adjust between the grinds? On mine, I grind for espresso from 2.1 to 2.4. I could experiment, but I don't want to waste $19/lb coffee. This would be for a French press.

Curt, your question applies to many espresso grinders that make adjusting way coarser a chore, and getting back to espresso even worse. I had Mazzer SJ, and though no worm gear, still a pain. These grinders were designed mainly for espresso, and surprisingly you may dins a $129 drip/press grinder will do as good a job, maybe better at those coarser grinds. I'd be looking at a Baratza Encore, or refurb Virtuoso with Preciso burr set.

That thought did cross my mind. I'm currently have one of the old grocery store grinders my father use to collect. I suspect it's well made to hold up to the volume of use, but I'm not sure about the grind quality. I wish I could test it. Thanks for the recommendations. Something smaller would be nice. I would have to out to the garage to do my grinding.
