Sometimes I have to wonder why the Rocky still has a following? It's just so outdated now, you have grinders cheaper than the Vario that grind much better and consistently, nevermind much less finicky. I've seen what some people pay for them used and it boggles my mind lol, unless you just want that old school nostalgic feel it has.

Just got the Vario W last week, it wasn't cheap but it is an amazing grinder. The time savings, and accurate dosing alone will help offset the cost, time is money and accurate dosing means less wasted coffee.
It is super easy to use and dumping the coffee directly into the portafilter from the bin is a non-issue so I don't lament the loss of a portafilter holder.
Spend the dough, get the vario-w you won't be disappointed.

The more or less unanimous votes for the Vario don't surprise me. While the Vario with more than 200 settings is virtually stepless, the steps of the Rocky are pretty wide, which can get you stuck inbetween two steps for proper extraction, a highly frustarting situation.

It doesn't. I suspect that people considering the Rocky aren't looking at the dates on the data they're using for research. Every recent thread pretty much says to skip the Rocky.
