I guess I'm one of those posters who just comes around when he needs something...
I've owned my Vario since April of 2010, with no problems. A day or so ago, I noticed all of the sudden that I had a major static problem when dispensing coarser grinds. I also noticed larger, light brown grinds that I'd never noticed before (at least as being differently sized). I guessed it was a bit of extra chaff, and continued on. Today I am having the same problem with my espresso. Tons of static, larger light brown grinds mixed in. When I tried to make an espresso, the water just rushed through the portafilter. I took the upper burr out and cleaned the unit, but the problem remains.
That seems unlikely, since it was the same batch of Espresso Toscano and La Golondrina from one day to the next. I just got some 1922 Mocha & Java Blend in the mail today, and it had the same problem.
