I don't quite understand why all the suggestions are for household cleaners other than the actual products made specifically for cleaning coffee oils. CleanCafe, puly cafe, JoGlo, Cafiza etc. The same stuff you should be using to clean your portafilter and filter baskets and shower screens etc. - just a few grains of the powder on a damp (with hot water) sponge or paper towel will remove that coffee oil residue without leaving any bad smells/tastes.
This stuff is like magic with coffee oil. And I would think you already have some around to keep your baskets and showerscreen clean.

LOL why didn't I think of that:) What a novel idea using coffee equipment cleaners to clean coffee. Thank you for your suggestion of course I have several coffee cleaners on hand.
