I'm going to try contacting Barazza tonight, but I figured I'd see if anyone else has had this problem...
My timer-knob doesn't attach. The plastic timer-switch seems to be inset so deep that it doesn't attach more than superficially. I can turn the dial with the knob, using it as a key, but I'd honestly have more luck with a screwdriver... and I'd probably be less likely to break that internal plastic part.
<grumble>This is not working out well. I already had to return one unit because I was shipped the wrong machine from Amazon. Then WLL seemingly forgot to package and ship my order; Quickly fixed, but a delay nonetheless. I've been drinking pre-ground Lavazza in the meanwhile... while waiting for the Barraza, I accidentally melted my old grinder on the stove.</grumble>
I just got a virtuoso and thought it was just me. I contacted them this morning to see if mine needs replacement too. I wanted to push the knob on tighter, but was afraid it would break. Thanks for the info.
actually this is what i was told, "The timer knob issue can be rectified with a sliver of Scotch tape folded over the metal bisector." (for a loose knob, not the too tight issue that the OP is talking about)

The new knob arrived and is still too tight. I'm also having a problem that after once adjusting it for press-pot and readjusting for espresso, it no longer grinds very fine. I used to grind at 7-8, and now I need to be at 1 to grind small enough.
ocarolina, it seems you're having similar problems... Did your replacement knob fit, at least?
As far as the knob goes, mine behaved the same. It just would not go on more than a tad. I used an emery board to lightly sand the white plastic post a bit (took the cover off first to be able to get at it better, which was a bear) and then it fit fine. I think it must have had a slightly raised bit on the post.
