I'm a little bored today, so here is post that goes nowhere. This is the top burr from Gaggia MD-85 next to a old Super Jolly burr. 85mm burrs are really really big.
I wish I could see your expression the first time you put some beans in there and watch the grinds come flying out the chute. I couldn't believe my eyes the first time with my Major.

andy yes it should be fun but it's not going to be my first commercial grinder, if you remember I had almost a dozen of them at 1 time and counting the new major I will be down to 5 lol! but I could be surprised though because I never have had a major before we shall see!!!! :-D

The crazy thing about this grinder is that I thought that I had purchased an MD-65. I was caught completely off guard when I pulled out the burr carrier to find these monster burrs. I think that these have a smaller inner diameter than Major burrs (I had a Major once, but it is long gone by now), which combined with the 2mm larger outer diameter, makes for a shocking amount of grinding surface.
Yeah, I was referring to the difference between a "normal" 64mm class machine and the 83-85mm burr. I was used to the SJ class and the Major still floored me when I saw the way the grinds burst out of the chute.
