Just as a counterpoint, I bought a refurb Preciso from Baratza. When it arrived I could not tell it was not new, and it has functioned flawlessly now for seven or eight months, plus survived several long auto trips. When I receive3d it, there was a part missing (plastic holder with portafilter fork.) I called and within three days (express mail) I got the part. My experience with Baratza has been exemplary. When I get 'upgradeitis', I will likely buy a Vario from them.

Ok, fast forward to today. I go to pull a shot, and even on the LOWEST SETTING, I can't grind fine enough for espresso - I'm pulling a 5 oz double shot instead of 2!!!
I WILL BE ON MY FOURTH GRINDER SINCE NOVEMBER (2.5mos)

...and nobody from Baratza has yet to return a vmail or email. I posted a complaint on their Facebook page yesterday, which they were quick to reply to because this can be viewed publically, with a fluffy "send me your contact info and we'll get this taken care of" response. I sent them all this yesterday, and they don't check and still haven't replied. Very frustrating!

You are right, and I must apologize for my lack of patence. Spoke with Kyle @ Barista and he was super apologetic. I've been in his shoes before, where despite your extended efforts, the customer gets a raw deal. Kyle is a real stand up guy with a passion for his business, and doing right for his customers. He did the right thing by me and my confidence is restored.

I just got this grinder brand new from Amazon a few weeks ago. It had been working perfectly until a few days ago. I have the same problem as the OP. The microfine lever moves while the coffee is grinding. I will call Baratza customer service and inquire about this but yes this is annoying.
