Here's more:

My findings posted last night were without beans.  This morning, I grinded and pulled my first shot.  And guess what - the micro lever drifts from F to H in one shot!!!  This is redicilous!  And the grinder sounds like it is bogging down and choking.

I called Baratza and spoke with Pierce.  He indeed confirmed that they replaced my new in box unit with an old refurb.  He said he doesn't know why it was shipped filthy with grinds spewing out all over.  They are shipping me a brand new unit, not refurb, and guaranteed this will be a winner.

Very frustrating.  Not only did they not QC the original new unit, but they sent me another lemon, filthy, and a refurb in place of my brand new.  I'm glad all you guys have had success with Baratza, but I don't think I will do business with them in the future.

Having been a member of this forum for a few years and done business with Baratza, the latter could use some improvement in the resale and exchange of refurbished units.

You are getting a brand new unit, great! What are you complaining about?

What am I complaining about?
- First unit being defective
- Second unit being shipped as an old refurb for a brand new unit
- Second unit beign shipped filthy with grinds spewing out
- Second unit defective, as the micro adjustment was drifting just like the first
- Second unit sounding like it was bogging down when griniding
- Going though all this fun

That's what I am complaining about.

I feel you there - glad to have one that I think works (thought the first one worked too for a while so forgive my trepidation) and for me $300 is not an insignificant amount of money to spend so I very much want it right - and right the first time is better than right the second or third time. it is easier to comment on his post looking from the outside of the situation than from the middle of it.

Good luck with your replacement - I firmly believe when our Preciso grinders are right, we will both be happy since the potential is there for quality and precision grinding with this unit.

I'm not criticizing the OP for being frustrated and yes,  pissed for what he had to go through. I would probably have the same reaction. I am just critical of him coming here after every apparent miss step  and complaining about what a horrible Company Baratza is.

Your words - not his - he is their customer and is sharing his experience - I find no bias in his posts.

That is very very scary not to mention extremely unprofessional.
Hey, but look at the bright side, I have read on here that Baratza will keep trying to get it right no matter how long it takes, and no matter how many grinders need to be shipped back and forth.

Exactly.  "made in Taiwan" not exactly close to Italy.

Received the third grinder and this one works perfectly.  Guess the third time is a charm.

Baratza's customer service is excellent, they just need to work on quality control.
