Subject: Question about Virtuoso Preciso

I'm looking to buy a used Preciso and I understand it was updated at some point. I found someone that has one that he is selling not too far away from me (35miles) but I don't want to make the trip for the older unit. Could someone please tell me what the serial number range would be for the updated models? Or not updated ones? I don't want to drive out there to only find out it's the older unit.

This review has great photos of the older Virtuoso burrs Baratza used first and also the replacement Preciso burrs - I would suspect the 100 original units are already accounted for but this visual should help. Maybe they can open the box and send you a photo from a cell phone of the burrs and you can compare from that.

I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?

I tried that approach, was not successful. Any ideas what the normal range for the serial numbers at all? On one site I read that only after October 15th they switched to the new gears. What is the range I'm looking for 100+? 000100 and up? If someone could please check their unit and give me an idea that would be great, I just don't want to make this trip on a Friday afternoon (traffic in that direction is insane) for an older unit :(

Thank you very very much!

My impression is that Baratza would probably offer to change out the burrs for you at little to no cost if you did somehow manage to acquire an older version of the Preciso. Maybe call Baratza to verify before heading out?
