No experience with the Anfirm, but I highly recommend the Preciso for espresso. I have several other grinders I've previously used for espresso, and they are now dedicated to drip, pour over or decaf.
So I don't know how well the Preciso can go back and forth between espresso and coarse, and it does so well for espresso, I'm not really willing to risk it, since I have so many other grinders to use for great drip and pour over.
I realize I'm not answering your question here, but I am confirming that the Preciso is the best espresso grinder I've used so far.

An older retired design that was a hybrid between the now retired Maestro and the Maestro Plus - looks like the grinder (and the Maestro) is still supported with parts though.
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?

Hi All:
I am in the process of an upgrade of my equipment. I've ordered a Silvano and it should arrive any day. I'm a bit worried about how it will pair with my current grinder, the Rocky. I am willing to upgrade a bit and have narrowed it to the Vario-W or the Preciso.
I use the grinder about 80% for espresso and 20% for brewing in my Chemex or French Press. So, I'm pondering between the two - Vario-W or Preciso. I see some of you have the Silvano/Preciso combo - any further thoughts? Anyone have the Silvano/Vario-W combo?
I feel a bit stuck here after reading through this thread. Anyone want to nudge me one way or the other?

I have the Vario and the Preciso paired with an Esatto. IMO I like the Vario better for espresso and the Preciso for all other brews, although I will still use the Preciso plenty for espresso. The Preciso is a very noticeable improvement from my Virtuoso and I never said that about the Vario with non espresso brews.

The Silvano arrived a few hours ago and I already took it for a test spin. I'm having trouble getting the Rocky to grind fine enough to pull a quality shot. The Rocky seems to not want to turn past the 6 setting (I've not needed this fine a grind for my old Gaggia) and that is right at the spot that the Silvano seems to need. Hmmm ... The Baratzas (Vario and Preciso) are calling me. Still thinking ...

I have never used one personally, but most of what I read about the Rocky suggests that it is a decent grinder for espresso.

Has anyone noticed any static spraying issues with the preciso? Towards the end of my espresso grind it begins to spray out towards the counter. I have read it can be the beans but I've only tried caffe Fresco ambrosia thus far. I've tried it with the bin but prefer to dose into the pf. I am also considering buying the oe dosing funnel if I think it will help. Any thoughts?

I've seen a little bit of that with my home roasts. I'm not sure if it's concentrated at the end of the grind though. I now grind a single (18g) dose into the grounds bin so I can shake it and break up the clumps somewhat before WDT, so it doesn't affect me anymore.

I had a Preciso for two months until it broke on me. The good folks at Baratza replaced it with a Vario. I prefer the vario. No static on the vario, some on the preciso. I only use the grinder for espresso and find shots with the Vario have more character. The timer is a nice addition, although if you go back and forth between different beans like I do, it is only a small plus since it takes 4-5 shots to get the right time. The timer on the preciso is completely useless for espresso.
