I've had my K30 for a while now, and absolutely love it.  Recently, I have started getting a fault on the display:  "Open!", and the grinder won't work.  I turn it off and then on, or go into the program mode, and back into the operation mode, and it still gives the fault.  After a while the fault just goes away and the K30 works normally.  I have misplaced my manual.
Does anyone know whats going on??
Also, does anyone know the status of the Mahlkonig ProM.  Is it available in the US

I can't help you with the OPEN! message, though I can speculate that some fault is causing the electronic "brain" to think the grinder cover has been removed.

Yes, the Pro-M is available in the U.S., according to Gary Horne at Mahlkoenig USA.  If anyone has firsthand user reports, I would love to read them.

There is a small contact switch just underneath the rotating lid, which sounds like it's either misaligned or broken. Remove the stop-screw in the lid, which will allow for a full counter-clockwise rotation of the lid (this one goes to 11!), where the lid will now be clear to lift for removal. When you remove the lid and the unit plugged in, you should immediately see the OPEN! warning in the window, and pressing up and down on the switch should toggle the display back and forth. The switch appears to be attached with screws, but I cannot determine if it's also soldered onto the pcb (I suspect so), so hopefully you, or someone you know is handy with a soldering iron. :)

I had the same issue after cleaning mine. I simply bent the metal arm up a tiny bit til the angle allow the lid to press it down upon reassembly. This was after I accidentally knocked it out! Thank goodness for magnetic antennae for picking up dropped parts! Mine fit with a simple snapfitting. (Same on ES)
