Greetings ladies and gents.
I have fond a brand new Rancilio Rocky grinder for 261,62 $, though a second hand the guy clams that it has never been used. I do trust him and the exchange will happen personally so I would be able to look for my self! I'm not sure if it's a 2009 model or older but I doubt that it's one of the 2010 models.
I only drink espresso and espresso based drinks
Has Rancilio Rocky grinder proven to be any good, should I buy one for 260$, and what if it is a 2008 model or older?
How can I check that it's never been used, when I look at it?

If it's truly never been used, or only very lightly used that sounds like a great price to me. I would suggest pulling the hopper and taking a look at the burrs to see if they look new and sharp or not. Also, the stainless foot in the front can get light scratches if someone set containers on it while grinding and that could be an indicator of whether or not it is used.
I have had a Rocky doserless grinder for the past couple of years and have been happy with it. It's not a Mazzer but neither is the price.

A like new Rocky at that price still has to be considered a good deal. A couple of years ago when it was still the darling of this (and I'm sure other forums) folks would be falling over themselves to buy it.
Now it seems to have been displaced by the Baratza Vario which can be had for $340 referbed. The Vario seems to be even hurting the Mazzer SJ.
I have been tempted to find out for myself but lately money has been harder to come by. If my finanacial situation improves while the Vario is still the darling I may give it a try. For now the Rocky with some work-arounds does fine.
