haha! yes! i did! today at work i cross threaded the mezzer. i saw this post and all these people saying the threads are "beefy". they certainly are not. whilst performing the routine grinder clean at work this afternoon, i wasn't concentrating for two seconds, and successfully did it. i have cleaned the grinder many times, but today, i was putting the collar back on whilst talking to somebody and suddenly i i couldnt move it. then trying to reverse it, it wouldnt budge. then i broke the screw in lever, which attaches to the collar. such a shit day. looks like ill be getting a new top blade. i called my boss and he was pissed off. my negligence has cost me. but nothing like this has ever happened before, so i put it down to old blades and an old grinder which needed to be serviced anyhow. but regardless, it took no effort at all and will probably cost me half a weeks pay check. warning: dont have a cavalier attitude about your mezzer, especially if its not yours.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. fine threads are easy to mess up, the finer they are, the less metal there is in them and the easier it is to cross thread them and cause damage. I hope it only the upper carrier that was damaged, you might be able to clean them up with a very small thread file or a knife edge file. if the threads in the body are damaged, that is a much harder fix. New upper carriers are very expensive but not as expensive as a new grinder body!!!
