Subject: Baratza Vario update?

I was wondering if anyone knew about a possible update to the Vario in the works, as I saw this on the CG twitter:

@trisstephenson the Vario in the pictures is the 1.05 unit, from June, 2009. Waiting on the 1.1 model coming in November. 2:24 PM Oct 11th

I was hoping someone might have an idea of what the update entailed and if it was worth waiting for.  I was looking to pick one up in the next week or so, now wondering if I should hold off and wait to see about this update.

Thanks!

Andrew

I do not know about version 1.1, but a vendor I emailed recently mentioned that Baratza was out of stock until Nov 2nd, which is consistent with the twitter comment.

Thanks!  I haven't gotten a response from Baratza yet either, but from the sounds of it holding off for two weeks to see what comes in on the second might be the smartest idea.

I just received  my Vario which was made in Germany 09/09, and it remembers the settings when unplugged. I think that's a new feature.

When I purchased my Vario from ChrisCoffee less than a month ago, I had asked if there any new revisions being made.  At the time he said nothing that Baratza had told him and they are importing/selling quite a lot of Varios.

According to the German Mahlkonig homepage, the updates are:

1) auto-sleep/memory function
2) more accurate factory-preset of the grind settings (which was not always the case...)
3) improved portafilter support due to better adjustable holder (more sizes)

"Less-of-a-mess" by adding:
1) grounded portafilter holder hook
2) new antistatic plastic material for ground coffee box
3) improved chute/spout

Ziemas, where did you get your grinder from? It looks as if you already got a newer version.
These updates are pretty neat, and I would hate to miss out on them.
Thanks!

I'm in Europe, and I bought it at www.esw.nl/   As far as I know this is the only model available in Europe, save for a handful of early models.
