I'm not sure what "flat spot" you are referring to but the individual edges of the individual blades in that photo look blunted. Maybe a better lit higher res photo are in order.

I assumed you were referring to the areas that are milled flat around the perimeter. I do agree that replacing the burrs on a used grinder is a swell idea, especially a grinder that has obviously seen some use.
I just bought two very nice used SJ's (relabeled as Rio Normale's). The burrs on both looked and felt pretty good. Replaced 'em anyway.

I will replace the burrs anyway, Im just waiting a little while since I've spent a lot lately and being a student doesn't pay all that well.
Still, here are some closeup shots: (gave me a reason to use my new camera to take pictures of my new grinder ;), did as well as I could with low light.

I can vouch for Phaelon Coffee myself but there are indeed many reputable vendors with burrs that will work just fine.
Invest in a new pair straight away and start making the best coffee you ever have. Its such a small investment that will change everything. Your grinder burrs are the single most important piece of coffee equipment you'll ever use.
Don't worry guys, new burrs will be on the way soon enough.
I find it interesting in that link, the guy also mentions how its important to always check the grinds for rocks and other things, just the other way I found a nice bean-sized stone which I almost missed when filling up my PeDe.
