Subject: Is there any point to buying a commercial grinder for home use?
 

Hi - I have been looking for a grinder for myself recently and found a Bunn G3 for $200 on Craigslist.  I can't find much information on it, but it looks like the kind that is at the grocery store or in a cafe.  Is there any point to having a machine like that, or should I save my money for a dedicated home machine (since I don't need to grind one pound of coffee in thirty seconds, as the G3 can apparently do).  Would a G3 even give me the precision that I am looking for, or is it designed more for commercial drip markets in mind?  Thanks

It's designed primarily for the retail market, not the commercial drip market -- it starts when a paper bag is placed into the clip below the spout, and stops when the bag is removed.  That said, there are people who do use this grinder (or ones similar) in their homes, but I can't quite see how . . .

I have a very similar grinder in my little kitchen, and alldo it did a good job grinding it was uncomfortable and very messy..
