I have been critical of the Rocky as an espresso grinder, but I still think the Rocky doserless is a solid choice for a drip grinder. Hopefully you can repair it, but replacing it with another Rocky wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Phil: Well, I spent some more time fiddling around with it, and started using a digital multimeter to test various connections. That meant unplugging and plugging back in a few wires and unscrewing a few screws here and there. Good news! In doing this I suppose I re-established connections that perhaps were dusty or whatever. Perhaps some contacts were blocked. Now it is working again! Motor not burned out! Yea!
I should like to profusely, publicly, thank you for taking your time to hang in there with me and post some absolutely helpful questions and tips. If it were not for your advice, my good fortune would not have happened!

Hi Jmoras,
Are you using a Click-Clack lid or other plunger device? I use a piston which I machined to fit the bean hopper. I think what happens is the extra pressure from plunging drives coffee dust up through the grooves in the side of the upper burr carrier. It means you have to take the case off the machine for house cleaning every couple of years or so. I think it is a small price to pay for not having stale nasty grounds in the coffee which you are brewing.
