Posted Fri Jun 8, 2012, 1:29pm Subject: Re: I civilized my Rocky   Just an update on this: I stated that I pre-tamp with the little plastic tamper which came with the Silvia.  I don't do that anymore. I remove the basket and funnel from the grinder and set it on a dental vibrator.  I then stir the grounds with the vibrator on using a tiny wisk.  The grounds flow back to the basket from the funnel with the vibe on.  The look and "flow" of the grounds actually seems to change when they have been sufficiently "de-staticed".  At this time I but the basket into the bottomless handle and place the handle with basket on the vibe table and tamp with the vib on.  I used to tamp, then put the basket into the handle.  Apparently the shock of putting the basket into the handle disturbed the grounds and I got all sort of squirties.  It is amazing what a bottomless handle can teach you.
