We all want to get rid of all grinds clinging inside our grinder. There are a few posts showing how to get the remaining grinds out of a Rocky (from vacuuming to removing the chute).
After reading caffeguy's great post on plunger/piston arrangement to "flush" his Rocky, I started to put together parts to do his mod. While roasting one day, I suddenly realized that maybe my new airtight bean container's lid might fit. Wow, it fits perfectly on the hopper. One would have thought it came standard on a Rocky!
Squeeze the toggle lid (see photo below - green toggle on top of lid) of Click Clack, thus loosen the fit slightly inside Rocky's hopper. Just pump the lid a few times up/down in the hopper, all left over grinds will flow out of the chute :-)
No mess and no modification needed.

Awesome... I was planning on doing this, but wasn't sure what I would use for the plunger device. That Click Clack lid is perfect !!! Just ordered one from Amazon.
Dechelbarg: Yes, while pressing together the toggle, move ClickClack lid up and down inside the hopper. Since it's a perfect fit, it pushes air out through the chute. Left over grinds exit from chute as well.
Stash: the size of ClickClack I have is 0.7L (as shown on the link provided earlier). Just want to make sure you get the right size.
BTW, did I mention it's kind-of airtight once lid is pushed into the hopper. Certainly does keep beans "fresher", not that any of us geeks would ever leave beans sitting in the hopper while grinder's not in use.
George, the flushing concept was started by you :-) With your mod, your plunger/piston goes down all the way in the hopper. However, due to the profile of ClickClack's lid, it can only reach 1.5 inches into the hopper. But it produces enough pressure to push air & grinds out of the bottom chute.
This is how I do it: once grinding is completed, I'll push ClickClack lid down a few times into (as far down as possible) Rocky's hopper. Grinds shoot out. Then turn on Rocky 1-2 seconds, more grinds falls out, then do final few pumps of ClickClack down the hopper. All left-over grinds will come out by then. Since not having Rocky's finger guard in place also helps, it gives less resistence to air pushing through.
Another benefit of this lid is that it makes grinding quieter coz it insulates sound within the hopper.
Can someone measure the diameter of the lid? I have a Pasquini with doser and I would like to try this. I don't get much hung up in the chute but if it is this easy to clear out old grounds each morning, why not?
