I got a Breville BES860XL from my local Craigslist for only $100!  I have always wanted to try one of these machines and I got one that was barely used, with all the accessories, and it's one of the newer versions that has a thermocoil instead of the prone-to-leaking thermoblock. I know people are going to laugh because it's a Breville but you gotta say it does look a bit sexy...no?

Bought a Nuova Simonelli Elli for $25.  I don't think it had ever even been used.  I tested it out and it was great.  I sold it for $200.

Now that my machine is having issues, I wish I had kept it.

I received a non-working Nuova Simonelli espresso (not sure of exact model) for free.  I sold it for $140 for our boy scout troop's fundraiser.

Found a Starbucks barista machine for $30 for a friend who wanted one.

Now I need to hit the yard sales again this summer to find another one!

I just found a Bunn CWTF15 APF in the trash. Looks like new, needs a little trouble shooting as the heater is not ... heating. Should be an easy fix for a plumb in/pour over air pot drip brewer. When plumbed in it has the hot water option. When pour over it is brew only.

Found hardly used La Cimbali M31 Classic 2 group + two M52 Dolcevita superautos with broken dosing mechanisms for total of USD 55.
I've dismantled superautos and got a lot of interesting stuff:
- 2 steam/ 2 brew boilers with working heating elements (same mounting flange as M31),
- 2 grinders with 64mm titanium coated burrs,
- one RPM motor for rotary pump (pumps and 1 motor were already removed)
- 24V toroidal transformers,
- 2 and 3-way solenoid valves,
- small diameter thermocouples with compression fittings,
- rod heaters,
- 4 solid state relays,
- 1 flow meter,
- OPV, PSV and vacuum breaker valves,
- many 30A relays, 10A triacs on control boards etc.
M31 is only missing cup tray grid, is purely electromechanical (no electronics to break) and fully functional except Procon pump.
Level is controlled by float with magnetic switch
I've fixed the pump by descaling it, lapping the sealing faces and changing pump and motor bearings ($ 10 for 3 bearings).
Original pump bearing ID is 11.10 mm - I've used bearing with 12mm ID + made a bronze bush.
I still need to dismantle the machine for descaling and cleaning/touch-up painting.

It's a small thing. Found a Sweet Maria's, Italian made porcelain cup/saucer. $1 at a coffee roastery's garage sale. Has a good weight and feel to it.

Picked up an excellent condition Gaggia Classic for $40 off CL. I had to dodge tornado-producing storms between Waterloo and Des Moines on the motorcycle to get it, but it was still worth it :-)

It now sits beside the near-new $190 Silvia from eBay (still had protective plastic on it). It had a cracked lower boiler, but I had another one.
