Hello, coffeegeek community. I'm Edd (or Eddy, Ed, E., Ddy, or whatever, I'm not a picky namer). Since I'm new here, so I wanted to start with a (hopefully) relaxing topic just to start off well. I hope nobody has created this topic beforehand, and if it already exists, please excuse this mistake. I have been for about 4 years a thorough coffee lover; actually, before I loved coffee I simply liked it, as a good friend. However, my taste for different coffee preparations has varied over time. I started with cappuccino and latte, went through macchiato and ended up with the actual coffee, espresso, (sometimes doppio ristretto). How about your choices?

Welcome to CG!
I drink something that runs between a cappuccino and a macchiato most of the time typically with agave syrup in it. I often drink a shot of straight espresso while prepping my drink. I prefer my milk frothed more akin to a latte, but poured (volumetrically) just shy of cappuccino proportion to the 'spro. For simplicity sake, I merely call it a cappuccino on the board. when I go out to cafes, I usually get a cortado. I also use my Espro press a lot at work, and occasionally I use my Aeropress, but I only put sweetener in those drinks (no milk).
. Always remember the most important thing is what ends up in your cup!

I froth my milk like a latte and drink like a cappa. i.e. 3-4 oz milk in a 1.5-2 oz shot. It is not the fluffier cappa foam unless I mess up. And some sugar, I am trying to lessen the amount till I can do it without sugar.
Buying advice: GRINDER GRINDER GRINDER. Don't cheap out on the grinder.

We used to do espresso almost every day, but lately have been doing considerably more brewing. Call it 50/50.
Linda takes everything with sweetener and some sort of dairy. For espresso she likes lattes, or lately something that's put together as a sort of hybrid Americano/long black. Sweetener with water on it to make a dilute simple syrup. Cream. More water to get the right volume. Double shot of espresso. Finish with just enough water to top off the glass (Bodum Assam) and get some mixing; but not enough to collapse all of the crema or leave the surface of the drink devoid of visual interest. Took some practice to get it right, and fussy to make, but Linda's well worth it.
As for me... Espresso; Three doubles every "espresso morning," on the border between ristretto and normale. Most evenings, an after-dinner double. Occasionally a shot of something smooth, aged and mellow to go with.
Brewed; Aeropress, Chemx/Kone, Espro, FP, Siphon: Black, and lots of it.
Iced; Don't do it enough. Espresso or brewed however; black, black with rum, brandy or whiskey; or "regular," with cream and sugar.

I am mixed. My morning most always is a double straight shot followed by a 6 shot 24 oz "latte" actually it is closer to a Cap than a Latte but whatever you call it, that is my longer term, sittin and sippin and often drivin drink.
At work, it is pour over commercial drip or Aeropress.
Nothing for the most part in the evening, cept of course weekends then the clock does not matter much.
