I wish there was a list of shops with Synessos or LaMarzoccos.  Now that would narrow it down!

The point was already made above but keep in mind that Starbucks had LM's (and Mazzers) as standard equipment.  The machine is just one link in the chain.

Of course you need to scan the reviews as others may feel that a vanilla soy caramel frap is how to judge espresso drinks.

Or that wifi and power outlets make or break a coffee shop.  It's really no different than reading reviews for anything else.  Always consider the source.

I like Catalina too, but yes, there are definitely better places...such that I never make it to Catalina anymore.

Those I've been to...in no particular order...Tuscany Coffee in Greenway Plaza food court, Southside Espresso at Westheimer and Montrose, Revival Market in the Heights, Boomtown Coffee also in the Heights.

There are a couple I've not been to as well...Blacksmith (no relation to Wayne Parris, in fact, owned by Greenway coffee who also own Tuscany above) not far from Southside (above)

Catalina's still my favorite despite Southside and Blacksmith being in my neighborhood but I'm not an espresso drinker.  All of these are good places and we're lucky to have such a selection that didn't exist a few years ago in Houston.

if someone here could make an IOS/Android app like this, I'd be happy to donate and add my personal favorites. Even if it's just people from these forums. Id rather have a few really good ones, than a bunch of clowns listing charbucks.
