Wow, I'm sorry I've been absent here, but I wanted to let you all know I haven't dropped this project. Not at all. In fact Iím moving right along, Iíve learned a ton, written some code, and now Iíve got a mockup ready for review, and I really need your help.

Iíve spent the last two months learning to develop for iOS, which I havenít done before despite a technical background. Those two months were spent going about this project in somewhat of the wrong order. Johnboddie tried to warn me, and suggested a great path, but Iím afraid I didnít listen and jumped right into the programming. This time hasnít been wasted, since Iíve learned a ton of what I need to know to make this happen, but itís time now to get some feedback and input from you guys, the community of people I hope will benefit from what I am making. Over the last couple of days Iíve stepped away from the code and the partial sketches on paper and created a more complete mockup. This is a product I can show off that should give you a very good idea of what the final app could look like. If you would like to see it, please email me directly, and I will send it to you. Your feedback is essential, even if you need to tell me it sucks (especially if you need to tell me it sucks!), and you will have a very real input and influence in the design process. This is the only way I can really make a product that meets the needs of the community.

Let me back up for just a minute and bring you up to date, because this project has become something much more focused and clean than what I described in my opening posts.

The original idea has necessarily evolved, and I have distilled it to the bare essentials. Many features been dropped in order to provide a clean, high quality initial release that really nails the core functionality down. The core functionality is to provide a natural flow that allows the user to quickly record those variables relevant to their personal espresso ritual, and this is still intact. Some features that didnít make the cut include the graph displays, and support for brewing methods other than espresso. The advanced timer features are gone, but a simple stopwatch will still be provided to capture the extraction time. In time, the dropped features may return in future versions.

Again, if you would like to check out the mockup I've made, please email me now!
