Very happy after having my single shot portafilter converted to bottomless. Easier to clean / tamp / and gage shot quality instantly.

Provided a video of my very first attempt using it:

Enjoy!

Switching to a naked portafilter is a bit like taking up golf. You'll get to the point where most of your shots look pretty good, some are beautiful, and when you occasionally shank one, the evidence will be spread wide for everyone to see.

Yes, what they said.

I am bottomless all the time and there is nearly always something I don't like about every pull, it is the very rare shot that I look at the basket while pulling and smile. That said, all the shots taste great if I did everything else correctly and even if it is not perfect, it is pretty darn good!

Cool - thanks for sharing.  I often use my new bottomless and often enough get that 'squirter' or early blonding.  Are you using a double basket?

I am using a double basket. Will post a successful extraction soon but thought this initial one was very funny so had to share.

Another option is to try a triple basket.  I'm hoping I can find one that fits (or modify it) my Saeco SBDU.

That video was so close up I was expecting to get sprayed in the face with espresso.. :D  Id stick with a single basket for single or pressure surf so you don't break the puck.
