I found a 20 year old Saeco Rio Vapore at my local thrift that is very similar to the Starbucks Barista. Mine is older so there is no Paranello and the filter handle is chromed brass and is not pressurized. The quality of shot is on par with my Gaggia Coffee espresso machine - I would skip over the Gaggia consumer line when looking for something new - I would consider a purchase of one of those to be a lateral move, not an upgrade.

I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
Nice machine - looks a lot like my Barista, which is also Panarello-less. I'll have to post a pic of my set-up. Yeah, I've decided to hold-off on any new machine purchase for awhile, and when I'm ready, it will likely be an HX. Now I'd like a triple basket for my Saeco, but one doesn't seem available. Thus, I'm wondering if I can modify the lip on a La Spaz triple basket to make it compatible with my Barista. Anybody know?
