Which is the better hand grinder for value? Hg is certainly more but is it really the better buy? Curious to see what you guys think. This would be about espresso use.

Do you know what burr set is used in the pharos? I haven't found that info yet. I see some great reviews on it but unsure of what burrs. The only complaint I have read about the pharos is that  is not very ergonomic.

Another complaint is that you have to bang on it to get the grounds out.

Pharos has a 68mm conical burr set.

I have used (one afternoon) both and liked the HG1 better.  And you can put a scale under the HG1 and stop grinding when you get enough out.  Something you really can't do with the pharos.  And it was a heavily modded pharos.

Buying advice: GRINDER GRINDER GRINDER. Don't cheap out on the grinder.

I keep wondering if OE will modify the Pharos at all with a refresh like they plan to do with the Lido?

Doubt it, they've even mentioned along the lines they purposely made the grinder to be a full "hands on" experience and "raw" if that makes sense... for ease of use, VooDoo Daddy mods are a must.

bang for the buck, Pharos, I mean you getting a Titan burr set in a grinder that cost less then was some of the minimum espresso grinders start at (like the Preciso etc). But HG One will pry be my next grinder, we basically only single dose, and the HG-One just looks so cool and easy to use.

Really? All things being equal I would definitely go for the hg one, unfortunately the price isn't equal so I bought a Pharos.

Based on??? There have been some owners of both and all preferred the HG-One (that doesn't take away from the Pharos as it's still an awesome grinder as far as taste)
