When I was looking for a scale I read a lot of reviews that basically said any of the cheap ones from China/Ebay were crap.  Found a review that directed me towards the PalmScale 8.0.  Found the cheapest in Canada was around $65 so I bought it.

While it was being shipped I stumbled across this one that Lee Valley sells for $16.50 (looks like they also sell it in the States).

After trying both of them I'm using the cheaper Lee Valley one every day now.

They're both small scales so you have to just weigh the filter basket not the whole portafilter.  I haven't been able to find one large enough to accommodate the whole portafilter that is accurate enough without being really expensive.

My cheap Chinese scale from Deal Extreme has been going strong for at least 2 years! The backup player is getting antsy on the bench.
