Before my current profession, I had aspired to go to culinary school. I love to create "cuisine" from it's parts. Espresso is more than the sum of its parts, just like pastry cream is more than hot cream and eggs. This is a hobby I so want to to enjoy, and had started to before my purchase soured me on the experience.

yes, you are entirely correct in your assessment. I don't see you giving up.

Did you get your classic back from WLL yet (did I miss that part? - I didn't see you say you did)?  I would think the valve would have been repaired/replaced when you sent it back in.

Thanks Emradguy.

No, I flat out returned the Gaggia/Preciso Package to WLL. I got skittish and just didn't want to worry about it. I'm not handy in the slightest and would not be doing any work on the machine myself, so I needed to be done with it.

I'm looking at the CC1, but "rumors" persist that a CC2 might be coming out. But that is beyond my budget at this time, so Im trying to track down a Mypressi. While not the same as using a machine, I think it will give me experience with grind/tamp technique.....

Since I had to return the grinder with the machine (package deal) I keep stalking WLL and SCG, as well as the Baratza Refurb page to try and score a deal. I'd like to try a hand grinder but for the life of me can't find a Hario or Porlex in town anywhere...
