Hey Blackie, I'm with you on this one. The responses to your comment were a bit 'snarky', and for really no reason. You made an excited comment about a coffee you tried without denigrating anybody else or their opinions. No problem there as far as I can see. I, like you, get enthusiastic about a coffee when I try something I like and your exuberance is admirable. Ok guys, let's all welcome him back into 'the fold'. I actually tried a Keurig at a friend's house last week and actually loved it! Let the flames begin........
Just saying that you can't have fresh roasted coffee all the time, and something needs to pass...
I too have *GASP* fallen to the depths of the forbidden zone... During the holidays if fresh coffee runs low, I'll even throw in *GASP* Instant coffee.... (And it's even called "PRESTO")
NOW we can let the flames begin....
Just because we go slumming once in a while, mean there's anything wrong with taste ;)

Welcome BlackPoodle and troposcuba. frcn has a habit of posting snarky remarks in most threads when he isn't breaking his arm patting himself on the back for having - wait for it - a blog! One on coffee even...
Eventually you will get a feel for this place and its regulars if you stick around a while.
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
Yes!, the Aroma Nica is very good., I was talking about them (the farm, etc., & speaking personally to the daughter Maria Fiallos.., father Reynaldo Fiallos) way back in Aug 2002 over 10 years ago: "Re: *Another Canadian Green Bean Retailer*"

This certainly invites the questioning of your credibility in judging the finest coffees of the world.
Really! How can you drink that stuff? It is polite to just say 'No thank you, I'll just have water, or a bowl of steam please.'
Seriously though, there are many fine coffees from Central America. Some of my favorites have been the Bourbon Varietal from Guatemala and El Salvador. For freshness, the green bean does well to age a few months, but the roast must be fresh.

And sometimes, it's impolite to refuse a cup of coffee, different cultures after all :)
If you like the green bean you should check out Selva Negra's fully self sufficient farm... Really interesting operation and 100% self sufficient. They have an awesome tour of their cafetal and they teach you a lot on the roasting process.
a simple, kindly said "no, thank you" can be downright rude in some cultures, where the only acceptable response is "yes, please, thank you very much". That little scene in Indiana Jones, although comical, was not that far from the truth.
