Hi all... I'm going to Panama on vacation next week!.  At the end of it,  my girlfriend was super nice
to me and got us a 3 night stay at a bed 'n breakfast in  Boquete.  I've done some research to make the most of
it but I'm sure I can use some help   So the reason for this post is to make sure I really don't miss out on anything good. Has anyone else done this and if so what was your best expiriences.  Thanks!

I enjoyed going to the San Blas islands off the coast of panama where the Kuna Indians live. I will never forget the flight out there and back or the lunch they gave us or the outhouse that I saw there. (when I wondered where the breeze on my bum was coming from I looked down and the hole had a great ocean rock view)  I was not into coffee at the time and much would have changed by now.

Panama - spent 10 days there.  Loved it.  We bused it the entire trip.  Spend some time on TripAdvisor's Panama forum. Click Here (www.tripadvisor.com)  Grab a copy of Lonely Planet's guide to Panama.

Must do's:

1)  Read _The Path Between the Seas_, by David McCullough before going.  Great read on the history of the Canal. Click Here (www.amazon.com)
2)  Visit the locks at any of the visitation sites.  We visited at Flores: Click Here (www.tripadvisor.com)
3)  There is a great national park (Parque Metroplitano) right in the north central part of Panama City.  Loved it for the "green," right in the heart of the bustling capital of the country.  Unbelievable bird and tree life: http://www.parquemetropolitano.org/
4)  Santiago - going west, towards Boquete, along Pan Am highway.  We had two messenger bags made by the best saddle maker in Panama.
5)  Boquete - we did the coffee tour with Cafe Ruiz.  Very well done.

Enjoy.  Take your time.  Panama was the only Central American country where I could find a decent cup of coffee most anywhere.  All other countries, it all gets exported.

Also, see about grabbing a Mola.  They are very intricate cloth needlework, in very bright colors, sewn by the Kuna women.  I picked ours up at the Women's Art Cooperative in Santiago.  By purchasing this way, the women obtain a much higher percentage for their work.  The picture below is very similar to the one we bought.
