actually, none. Dave offers several options...send him a handle to retrofit, have him make the handle and change it out yourself, or have him order a brand new one and fit that. I didn't want to change it out myself and I didn't want to part with my only bottomless while he was doiong the work, so I asked him to go aheasd and supply me with a brand new one fitted with his custom handle. I figured it would be nice to keep all the handles I currently own, plus have one more really cool looking one. He's doing custom water and steam knobs and a custom group paddle for me as well as a basket funnel. I can't wait to get it all and install it.
Being new to espresso making going on 3 yrs. What is the purpose of the bottomless pf? I know from some things I've read about helping you get your tamping, grinds down correctly, kind of like a training tool
S0me portafilters have very flat inner floors and moving then to the knock box makes a dribbly mess. It makes for a great show. Taller cups fit under the group. Stays flat when tamping. Easier to clean. Easier to remove basket, particularly with commercial-grade portafilters.

Bottomless PF allows 1) diagnosis any uneven distribution/tamping by examining the pour, 2) more crema in the cup, and 3) you to pour double or triple shots directly into a single "tiny" espresso cup. Just to name a few!
Also...it looks really cool when the shot is coming out!
However, I think that unlike some training tools that help you get something down and then become obsolete, the bottomless PF is eternally helpful. If you ever start drifting off the reservation, it'll let you know right away and force you to re-evaluate your technique.
I have a Gaggia and I bought another, new, OEM Gaggia portafilter. Then headed out to the garage with a hole saw and a Dremel. Sounds ghetto but turned out fine. If you're not up for that, I'd still suggest OEM and having it cut open by a machinist with a lathe. There's a few shops that have advertised the service.
For me going w/ the OEM to start with guaranteed that it would fit properly. I have a friend and a dad both that bought bottomless PF's that were advertised to fit their machines, but did not. I didn't want to repeat that.
