Cuisnart EM-200, Kijiji, $20. Not an awesome machine but it beat the pants of my Delonghi BAR32 for espresso. It's steam sucks, but to be fair the BAR32 is a monster with a custom steam tip. (Oh, and it came with a SS steaming pitcher that I would have had to pay $15 for anyways...)
La San Marco Practical single group circa 1998, $500. Would'a jumped on it but GF said it was "Huge and ugly" and she has veto power (I hate sleeping on the couch) ;).
I fail to see why you would be on the couch. Your life, your place to live. Until she is your WIFE, she has no legal power at all. She could stay on the couch if she wants. A wife is a whole different ball of wax, you are then a team pulling in the same direction for a common goal, no team, no veto power. I guess I am a little behind the times but none the less, that is my personal view, YMMV!
In real life, my name is Wayne P.
Feed the newbs, starve the trolls and above all enjoy what you drink!

I think you are missing his point - sleeping when you are still new or getting to know each other (boyfriend/girlfriend) might involve more than closing the eyes and counting sheep. She has a huge say in how that night rolls.
Don't get me wrong, I like coffee - a lot - but I think he made the right choice...
Back on topic: I did find a Poppery I - in the box - for a couple bucks at Goodwill.

I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
