If no one is allergic, grind up a few aspirin (or some citric acid powder) and put it into their preground coffee or their instant. Start with one or two for the first week or so, then slowly increase it. It will add bitterness. After a while you coffee will start tasting pretty good to them. Then tell them they can't have any. Tomorrow's the first as well!
Citric acid is a food supplement, not a drug. It could be considered a flavoring. It is the main ingredient in Kool-Aid.
Or... How about this - buy a keg of Folgers, open it, leave it in the garage for a month. Replace their coffee with the Folgers using the packaging from their preferred coffee. If they don't notice, all the better! "You idiots couldn't find good coffee with a map drawn with crayons! You've been drinking month-old Folgers that was left in the garage in an open container! NO, you can't have any of mine."
My wife and I are VERY particular about what we eat. We shop carefully and we read the labels of all the food we eat. In the supermarket we are amazed when looking in the shopping carts of other shoppers. What passes for food is even more astounding than what passes for coffee today. It would be interesting to see the rest of the diet of the OP's family.

I am not sure this is about taste, they keep changing brands and bringing home new things from the store. This is about him doing something they do not understand in anyway.
However, citric acid on april fools day sounds funny. I might have to do that...

Speaking of immature, did you see that espresso shrine that was in the 16 year old's room? I was shocked. I am not sure my parents would let me drink coffee at 16 much less have any sort of coffee maker in my room. (not that I had the space for it)
I think it is great his family is supporting his interest/hobby/passion. I am sorry your family is not doing that or at least not undermining yours.
Too bad you can't find a quiet place for your espresso shrine where you could enjoy your cuppa in peace. Maybe they are just jealous. Or learn to make mokas/cappas/latte's for the least hostile of the bunch and see if you can infiltrate the enemy. :)
Oh, I'm sure that was me. At first they were reluctant to support it, but I was persistent with my interest so they eventually gave in. My mother even occasionally throws in money for me to buy Redbird in bulk whenever I'm a bit short. It's very nice to not be judged about it by family, but I sometimes get weird looks at school whenever someone talks about about coffee and they ask me to explain something. But anyway, it's really great! Edit: They compared my Pharos to a deep sea fishing reel when I first got it, though. It's nice that they reacted with humor when I bought a $250 hand grinder. :)

Head Desk. Yes, that would be why. I went through every page looking for it here and Home-barista. I remembered the image, I have a really good visual memory.
I think I hear your mom saying "Go to bed, young man". You have had too much caffeine if you are up this late! :)
