After we learnt about espresso and its real tastes, we can never go back to drip coffee soly again. Vac pots, French press, they are good, for those single origin arabica beans to demonstrate their typical tastes and flavour. But, espress and cappuccino and caffe latte are already in clients mind, and maybe in life. I do drink drip coffee now, from time to time. But going back to drip coffee totally, that is simply not possible.

Once spoiled by drinking very good to great espresso, other coffees do tend to loose something but I still like regular coffee, normally from a Vac Pot but from manual drip if brewing for a crowd.
My espresso machine is on whenever I am home for a quick shot or an Americano and if I am in the wind down mode, a Cap or Latte,
I am now constantly disappointed by commercial coffee served in eating establishments, and most chain coffee houses but there are a few that I go to, NOT *$ YECH!) that make a passable drink.

Yes, regular coffee, I should use that word.

I've all but sworn off drip. It's pretty rare that I make it at home and is usally reserved for my inlaws. I do enjoy press quite a bit and lets me detect the nuances of a coffee. Espresso is by far my drink of choice now and have even come to drink straight shots on occasion, but still prefer machiattos and caps.

Feel this should end with "Discuss". Espresso drives this and most other coffee forums. At the risk of seeming like a heretic, espresso is one method of preparing coffee. Manual drip is another equally legitimate and less equipment oriented way of preparing coffee.
Much as I enjoy an espresso, especially after a good meal, my main method of brewing is manual drip and vac-pot. Simply enjoy a mug of coffee, most of the time, more than an intense hit of espresso.
Fortunately no one has to make the choice of going back solely to drip. I for one would not want to have to rely solely on espresso machines as a way of making coffee. Far to limiting. It is the coffee that is the passion for me, not the process or equipment used to make it.
Drip coffee is much maligned. To an extent I understand why, if by drip you mean the product of cheap consumer electric coffee makers. Having said that I consider manual pour over to be the equal or better of some of the other brewing methods you mention ie French Press. My preference.

What I meant was the regular coffee, as mentioned above.
It does not matter for the individuals of coffee drinkers, but important for the cafes' runner and baristas.
There is one thing which have to be seriously considered that to enjoy regular coffee, no one need to go to a cafe, but mostly at home or office, or anywhree they want. That is the point.
