Wow, sounds delicious--Tom really has a way with words.<g> I just bought some Kaapi Royale and roasted some yesterday. It's my first experience with robusta (other than the garbage I drank eons ago) and I thought I'd experiment with small amounts in an espresso blend. Wish me luck; burnt rubber isn't high on my list of desirable traits.

Yes, The review sounds unbelievable!,Thanks Jim! I"ll have to try some of Tom's Ugandan Robusta in an espresso blend. Liz where did you get the Kaapi? Spectacular special effects, Craig. I'm seeing stars (or maybe just a flashback from last night's fireworks). AND I've got roaster envy. I got the Kaapi from http://www.coffeeismydrugofchoice.com/coffee_green.htm I heard that for robusta, it's good but probably doesn't compare with Tom's Ugandan.

Thanks liz, I think! HeHee. It's not special effects,it's my cheapo camera! And it was a very shiny roaster, all polished up,like a mirror! I'll have to get some Kaapi now,as it is great in the Dr's blend.

A lot of people swear by Kaapi Royale (and it's monsooned cousin) as the best espresso robusta on the market. Almost all the green sellers carry it. Tom, contriwise, always seemed a bit underwhelmed, and stopped carrying it this year. Now he's got the Ugandan in as his unique "super robusta."
Italian roasters use African robustas almost exclusively for espresso blending, so he may be on to something. I'll do a comparison blend using it versus my stash of monsooned and we'll see.
