I recently got some Illy Monoarabica coffee beans, and they tasted really great. I use Gaggia Classic, and Mazzer Mini. The brew time was 28 seconds. (15 grams)
Smell: Pleasant, Strong, Chocolaty. Taste: A little bit Sweet, Chocolaty, not sour, tastes smooth with 2% milk. If you brew it for 40 sec, it will tastes astringent but with a very strong chocolate flavor.
Smell: Berry-smell (I think flavor is the mix of blueberry and blackberry). Very pleasant, but I got dizzy after I smelled it for about 20 sec. Taste: It tasted quite unique. Blueberry flavor. tropical taste. Super lisse. I truly love its blueberry taste. But it tasted really bitter after 40sec brew. It tasted fantastic with soy milk.
Résumé: Both Mono-Brazil and Mono-Ethiopia tastes very lisse. Mono-Brazil is for chocolate lover and Mono-Ethiopia is for Blueberry fans.
BTW, I'm not a professional barista, so there are some dependent variables like weather and temperature caused some inestimable difference of the tastes. Despite the price of the Illy Mono series, the quality of these beans are really good for espresso. (Not the best, but my favorite.)
