I like your discriptions, and I too have similar experiences. I tend to favor lighter roasts. I tried some Black Cat from Intelligentsia and the espresso from Blue Bottle from oakland, and the darker roasts have become much more accepting to my taste. I really need to order some Nuevo because I like Miguel and I haven't had it it a while!
I just received the Nuevo in the mail today. The first shots were really amazing. I must say that it already might be my favorite. I find it smooth and subtle. It sort of sneaks up on me and leaves a wonderful aftertaste. The flavors are mildly sweet & milk-chocolate with a bright start and mellow finish. It certainly ranks with the very best I've tried (e.g. Metropolis Redline, Code Brown).

I was really interested in trying some of their espresso but elected not to after talking to them about shipping. I live two states away in MO and they said it would be four days in transit. They use USPS and charge $7.05 to ship two bags (they package in 14oz bags). When I asked for UPS the lady said she would have to check but the rates would be more. I hate the thought of my beans spending time in a hot truck and pinpointing delivery is important to me. So, much as I'd like to try their highly-rated coffee, I'll pass and use Intelligentsia!
I order a lot of things by mail. I have never once gotten anything quickly from UPS. UPS ground is the worst! You might be able to pinpoint delivery, but it's usually sickeningly out in the future. If you upgrade from ground, you can get decent turnaround but the price is too high.
Not to criticize the post-er, just UPS. Maybe you happen to live near a UPS hub. For me, it takes at least six days for a package to get from Texas to Maryland. The tracking report reads like a Novella. USPS will just stick it on a plane no matter what you pay.

I would like to bump this topic since the last post was done on April of 2006, and I was at the web site. They now offer shipping within 3 days or less in the continental US for $3.49. Can anyone offer any reviews on there beans?

I really enjoyed the nuevo, it was received in two days. I will definably be ordering it again. IT was an extremely smooth espresso, and I enjoyed it tremendously.

I was thinking of ordering some greens from them... I see they have all their espressos listed. a little expensive but I'd like to see how close I can come to their roast profiles.

Paradise is top stuff, I like their espresso quite a lot. Its been a little while since Ive ordered from them, but last time I had Nuevo and Classico I seriously enjoyed both of them.
Also, they currently are offering their 100% Robusta Espresso, the India Sitara.. Don't be afraid.. give it a whirl. If you have ever tasted Robusta before, you know how much of old tires and cigarette ash it tastes like.. Well, the India Sitara will mindf**k you for sure. Its CRAZY good! Not only that, its a wonderful opportunity to snap some really awesome espressoporn pics! The Crema is just redonkulus. Paradise does some funky things with coffee.. I remember a little while back they offered a coffee which was fermented in Cola. Yes, Cola. Like Pepsi-Cola.
Also if you have ever wanted to try Kona, Paradise is the place to try it from. They take pride in the quality of thier Island coffees, and there is generally more going on in the cup than just "Smooth and Nutty", which all too often, is all Kona tastes of. And some of their high priced coffees Ive had as well, and they've all been worth the money. There was a Sumatra I bought which was outstanding.
Paradise is a top quality Roaster, you couldn't find a bad coffee if you tried.
I imagine the shipping comments suffer from being old, but USPS Priority is 3 days, no BS, anywhere in the country. And actually, since they have FedEx fly their packages for them when its cross country, its two days cross country. My favorite roasters are West Coast, and Im in NY. I am constantly ordering from California and Washington State, and I only use USPS. I get my order in two shipping days, every time. If I used FedEx or UPS ground shipping, it'd be 6 days, which means a weekend will interupt, and my coffee wil not be real fresh on arrival. I only use UPS/FedEx for close roasters. The Furthest ill order using UPS, is Intelligentsia, which is Chicago to NY(and its 3-4days, which requires a Sunday night order), any further and it needs to be USPS, or I need to pay for expedited. All the shipping options have their uses/pros and cons, but to be honest, aside from the fact that USPS doesn't have UBER detailed tracking, they will deliver, anywhere, in three days or less. And really, its two days. The only time, ironically, that it takes three days, is when its really close. If I order from Mass., its takes 3 days. Go figure. Point is, USPS is the way to go.

Wow I just received there Nuevo and Classico blends. I have to say I really love the Classico. It is very creamy and has a fruity taste. I can definately taste apple. About 5 minutes after a shot the after taste made me go back for another shot. No bitterness during or after. Its a lighter roast. I am going to finish this bag before opening the Nuevo. I am really enjoying this bag. I am going to put it right there with the Barrington gold as my 2 favorites so far. The delivery was fast. 3 business days, as I ordered it Wed. and received it on Monday. $3.49 shipping. Its a keeper.
At that price and these recommendations I will probably get 5lbs of one of the two and a pound of the other and the kona. I have wanted to try the kona espresso.
