Yeah, I wish it was Roast Dated too, but Chris knows about freshness and the importance, so you're getting fresh roast. At most, it'll be 3 days off.
The BP is a nice blend, easily dialed in, and it changes nicely with temp changes.
Bring the temp up a little bit, around 201-202, and the citrus really comes out, more-so on the normale side of the pull. I like it this way for straight shots. For milk, I bring the temp down to about 198ish, and tighten it up to give me about 1.25 in 27-30seconds, which softens the citrus and darkens the chocolate.

I am dialing in my BP beans which I received today. After a few so so shots I got the BEST tasting shot I have ever had. I used my Naked PF and the shot looked great before it blonded at 29 seconds. I stopped it and had 1 oz in my cup. Everything about this shot was perfect except I wanted at least 1.5 oz. I would like to know what some of you would do to accomplish the task of getting the same results, but only have this shot blonde at 2 oz instead of 1. I could just leave it and do back to back shots, but would rather make an adjustment and get the same results in pulling one shot instead of 2.

make sure you look for stones as you load your hopper. I had a stone in 2 different bags of BP over a 6 month span. both looked just like a defective bean but was the same color.

Funny, I ordered several bags over the years and I've not had that happen(stones). When there are certain African coffees in a blend, that CAN happen. I always go through any blend I buy. IMO, BP is an under-rated blend, and very easy to dial in. On my Cremina, I got this way cool dark cherry thing, almost brandied. The single basket shots were awesome.
You can say that again! A great blend for sure. I buy it periodically, but I should probably do so more often, its hella consistent, and very easy to dial in. I remember Mary telling me they designed with their HX machines in mind, in that its got a wide temp range. That way, DB folks can see how the temps change the coffees, AND, HX folks who like to play with flushing can see the temp changes, PLUS, the HX owners who want to just wake up and make coffee without any fuss, can ALSO pull great shots. So whether you like to tweak your shots, or just turn on and pull, Black Pearl will produce.
If that doesn't say skilled roaster, idk what does.
