Well, I just went ahead & ordered the Redline. It was only $13.25 for a pound + $5.25 for usps shipping. At least if I don't like it or it doesn't work well with my eqpt., $18 (rounded off) won't be as bad.

It was a gift from a friend, but I enjoyed HAYES VALLEY ESPRESSO. Another one I tried was the espresso from Counter Culture Coffee. It may not be updated this year, but it still works for me. Not to forget sweet maria's liquid amber.

No one replied, sniff-sniff(crying), so I went ahead & ordered the Redline from Metropolis. I really enjoyed it. Had a very solid flavor that punched through my steamed milk. Plus the price at $13.25 a lb. was very comparable to the local place (I can no longer get my blend at) for $12.00. I really don't want to freeze, so please no lectures on that. I would like to order 2 lbs. at one time as it will be $25 & the shipping remains the same as for 1 lb.($5.25). Here's my question. (Geez I hope someone knows what I am trying to say here). I normally go through a 1 lb. bag of beans in about 10 or 11 days. If I order 2 lbs. at one time, would the 2nd lb. bag go stale if I don't open it until about 11 or 12 days after receiving it? One I open the SEALED bag after 11 or 12 days of sitting in my dark cupboard, it will/should last another 10-11 days, so all together about 22 days. ( I know, this sounds like a dreaded 'word problem' I had in school). Thanks.

Ordered a pound from Barrington. They are a tad tastier (in my estimation), but pricier. The freezing seems touch & go. Some say it works great. When I followed it like I was told by a roaster (put the SEALED coffee bag in a freezer bag)--it did not work. I don't know if it was the excess moisture in the beans, but I ended up wasting the whole pound. Could not find any grind that would work. Kept shooting out like hot water, no matter how fine I put the grind. I've used this particular roast many, many times, so I know I pulled (95% of the time) wonderful shots....when not used thawed out beans. It may be our old, old refrigerator.

If you are mainly making milk drinks, I don't think you are going to get a huge drop off at 3 weeks. You tend to lose distinct tasting notes after a week or so, but if you use proper storage like keeping it in the bag you should be fine for nearly a month. You will need to grind a little coarser and up your dose as the weeks drag on, but it's not suddenly going to be awful.

Thanks. I ONLY make Cappuccinos, but anyone who tastes mine say, "Too strong". I like the punch of flavor that pops through my steamed milk/froth. I laugh at my family & friends when they have a cappuccino or heaven forbid--a latte. They keep adding steamed milk. I ask, "When are you gonna add the cereal?" Yet, I never ever like straight black coffee or espresso. I like what the steamed milk & froth do to it. Yet I like more of the espresso flavor than milk. As my beans get older, I have to make the grind FINER, not coarser.
